Juicy
I spent the past few days in the hospital next to DJ hoping he would wake up. I tried calling Black a few times. He never answered. I was kind of glad he didn’t because I honestly didn’t know what I would say to him. Bishop and Stalyce would come and go, but our conversation was strictly about DJ.
Stalyce seemed as if she and I were enemies now and Bishop would just stare at me, but never talking to me. I wanted for him to say something so bad; anything. The silence he was giving me was killing me worse than if he were to just cuss me out and get it over with.
I needed someone to hold me and tell me it would be okay, but there was nobody there for me. I didn’t have any friends and this was the first time I wished I had a mother. As I sat there crying to myself, Bishop walked in the hospital room. I tried to sit up and wipe my face before he saw me crying. He walked over and stood over the side of DJ’s bed and stared at him.
“Stop cryin’, Juice.” He said never looking at me.
“I’m not cryin’.” I lied.
“Right. Girl I know you better than you know yourself.” He said as he sat on the edge of his bed, still never making eye contact with me.
“Have you talked to Black?” I asked. He nodded. “What he say?”
“Nothin’ much.” He said in a way for me to drop it. So I did. I knew with Bishop you have to let things go or he will flip out and he was finally talking to me so I followed his vibes.
“Do you hate me?” I asked.
He looked over at me and then back at DJ. “Juice I can never hate you. You’re the only woman I have ever loved; and you’re the mother of my only son.” My heart softened. He didn’t know how much that meant to me to hear him say that.
“Bishop, I am so sorry. I never meant for any of this to happen.” I said as tears began to pour out again.
“I know you didn’t. But this shit got me thinkin’. I can’t live this life no more. I mean it was one thing when it was just me, but I have a son now. He needs a good father in his life. I have to give him that.” He stood up and walked over to me and pulled me to my feet. “And I need you, Juicy. I have to give you the family you and I never had. I love you; always have.”
I started to cry even more. I love Bishop so much and wanted him to say these things to me forever, but a part of me felt so bad thinking about Black. I never wanted to hurt him and I can only imagine how he’s sitting at home hurting because of my mistakes. I owed him an apology. Face to face.
